'Red Dog' scoops Inside Film awards

'Red Dog', the critically acclaimed film which opened the AICE Australian Film Festival in Israel a few months ago, scooped a swag of accolades at the Inside Film (IF) awards in Sydney.

Production begins in Melbourne on Jewish-Palestinian film

An Australian film about a radical Palestinian who holds a Holocaust survivor hostage after a failed attempt to blow up a synagogue began production in Melbourne this week. Filming of 'Last Dance' - featuring Julia Blake ('Bed of Roses') and Firass Dirani ('Underbelly') - began in St Kilda on Monday.

Another award for Israel's Joseph Cedar

Award-winning Israeli film director Joseph Cedar has won another award. Cedar, whose 2008 film 'Beaufort' was nominated for best foreign-language film at the Academy Awards, was recognised earlier this week for his work in promoting global Jewish unity at the 2011 NADAV Jewish Peoplehood Award in Jaffa.

Australian, Kiwi artists on show at Tel Aviv Museum of Art

A new photography exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art opened last weekend featuring the works of artists from Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Among the artists on show are Brisbane-born Tony Albert, New Zealand's Shane Cotton and Tibetan Gonkar Gyatso.

'Red Dog' wins another award, breaks $20m at box office

'Red Dog', the film that featured in this year's AICE Australian Film Festival in Israel, won another award this week as it passed the $20 million mark at the box office.

Producer Nelson Woss received the $US100,000 grand prize at the Heartland Film Festival in Indiana on Saturday.

'Footnote' won a slew of Ophir Awards, including best picture, thereby becoming Israel's entry for best foreign-language film at the Oscars.
