A respected colonel in the Ethiopian army, Gite Zrubavel now sweeps the streets in his adopted Israel. Fiercely nationalistic, Gite wants his children and grandchildren to succeed. But his son, Gili, is more interested in hanging out with street gangs than studying: daughter Almaz rejects an arranged marriage and even his ebullient grandson ‘Spike Lee’ prefers making movies to studying for his bar mitzvah.

The first feature-length Israeli drama by Ethiopian-Israeli filmmakers centres on a multigenerational family of new immigrants and poignantly shows the younger generation trying to assimilate with Israeli culture.
