Einat Sarouf

Israeli pop super star and platinum album seller Einat Sarouf travels to Australia in October. Australian audiences have the rare opportunity to see and hear Einat and her band at Bennetts Lane in Melbourne on Thursday 20 October – for one performance only.

Einat is in huge demand in Israel for her very special form of ‘fashionable nostalgia’, attracting even the trendiest and hippest Israelis to pack clubs and concert halls alike in reviving the idyllic tunes of a bygone era. Sing a long is now de rigeur for the Fashionista across the country and no-one epitomises this phenomenon more than the glamorous Einat Sarouf. Her weekly concerts at the Gonky in south Tel Aviv are sold out weeks in advance and where market stall holders rub shoulders with Chief Executives of major corporations. Tunes more commonly associated with campfires and youth movement evenings, songs that epitomise the innocence of the early years of the State are sung with love and passion not just by Einat, but the entire audience. But there’s more to the evening than sing a long – the second half of her concerts become one big Israeli-style celebration as Einat and the band invite the audience to join her in singing and dancing ‘Huras’ – Middle Eastern music and dance that continue until the early hours of the morning.
