RITA

Israel's Queen of Song makes her Australian debut in April at the Palais Theatre, Melbourne and the Sydney Opera House.

Born in Tehran, Rita emigrated with her family to Israel when she was eight and is still the nation's queen of song, 22 years after her first album ('Rita') went quadruple platinum.

Her Australian debut, in true Rita style, will be dramatic and flamboyant, brimming with intensity and passionate emotion. She performs in Hebrew and English, fusing Middle Eastern sounds and distinctive Persian and Iranian rhythms with original contemporary ballads. The performances, lushly backed by six musicians, will span Rita's 22-year recording career, featuring songs ranging from her debut album to her most recent, the highly successful 'Remazim'.

Voted the most popular Israeli female vocalist of all time in 2008, Rita has released seven albums, received numerous music awards, represented Israel at the Eurovision song contest, appeared on stage in hugely successful productions of 'My Fair Lady' and 'Chicago' and was awarded the Israeli Film Academy best actress award in 1989 for her role in 'A Thousand and One Wives'.

Rita has it all - charisma, a voice to die for and stunning looks. She is one of Israel's greatest divas.
