Living in rural New South Wales, working-class single mother Rhia is struggling to evade debt collectors and raise three young daughters. The eldest of the children, eleven-year-old Lou, blames her mother for the departure of her father and her family break-up. Lou's anger escalates when her Alzheimer's-afflicted grandfather Doyle moves in with the family. Doyle turns Lou's initial hostility around with exciting tales of his South Seas adventures. But coursing deep in his mind are fractured memories of his late wife Annie. Before long, Doyle "sees" Annie in Lou and imagines he is courting her all over again. |
